High-Tech Job Interview

I received a surprise instant message from an old high school classmate yesterday. We seldom talked to each other when we were still in school. However, thanks to Facebook, we reconnected and we often exchange pleasantries and even engage in engaging conversations through our “walls”. He knows that I work from home and he says that I actually inspired him to do the same.

Anyway, he sent me the instant message because he wanted to know if I have a headset with microphone that I can lend to him. It turned out he was scheduled for an interview with a potential employer and the interview would be done over Skype. Unfortunately, I don’t have a headset so I told him to just look elsewhere although I did wish him luck in his interview.

It’s amazing how high-tech job interviews are nowadays, eh? Thanks to video and conference calling, employers and employees from different parts of the world can converse in real time. I know a lot of people who have landed good-paying, home based jobs and the interviews were all done through Skype. Maybe I should try skyping too!
